‘Final Thoughts The Last Sonatas of the Viennese Classics’

During 2005 Murray McLachlan toured the UK with a unique programme, which placed the final sonatas of each of the great Viennese composers in context:

Sonata in E flat, Hob.XVI/62 Haydn
Sonata in D major, K. 576 Mozart
Sonata no. 32 in C minor, op.111 Beethoven
Sonata in B flat, D. 960 Schubert

2006 would be the good year to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the birth of Nikolai Myaskovsky. We believe that you are already well acquainted with his works. perhaps a live performance of his sonatas? England and Netherlands seem to harbor his greatest number of devotees

Absolutely- see the Shostakovich tour, featuring the sublime and deeply poetic 'song and rhapsody' op. 58 of Myaskovsky.
